As you may be aware there is a planning application under consideration for demolition of the existing public house and construction of four houses on this site. This involves change of use from commercial to residential.
On 24th January 2018 the Historic Environment planning consultants to the South Downs National Park recommended refusal of the application on the grounds that the Woodman building had historic value and should be included in the redevelopment process. The developers have disputed this.
If you have any comments as to the merit of the Woodman building and it’s possible future use you can lodge these on the SDNP website.
