{"id":4753,"date":"2022-09-21T15:23:12","date_gmt":"2022-09-21T14:23:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uphamvillage.org.uk\/upham-players\/?p=4753"},"modified":"2022-09-21T15:28:24","modified_gmt":"2022-09-21T14:28:24","slug":"next-production-leaving-lockdown","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/uphamvillage.org.uk\/upham-players\/next-production-leaving-lockdown\/","title":{"rendered":"Next production &#8211; Leaving Lockdown!"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We are excited to announce our new production  <strong>Leaving Lockdown<\/strong> on Fri 2nd and Sat 3rd December!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div data-wp-interactive=\"core\/file\" class=\"wp-block-file\"><object data-wp-bind--hidden=\"!state.hasPdfPreview\" hidden class=\"wp-block-file__embed\" data=\"https:\/\/uphamvillage.org.uk\/upham-players\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/Leaving-lockdown-poster-2.pdf\" type=\"application\/pdf\" style=\"width:100%;height:600px\" aria-label=\"Embed of Embed of Leaving-lockdown-poster-2..\"><\/object><a id=\"wp-block-file--media-c63641f2-41ea-4c96-ace7-702863b98d93\" href=\"https:\/\/uphamvillage.org.uk\/upham-players\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/Leaving-lockdown-poster-2.pdf\">Leaving-lockdown-poster-2<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/uphamvillage.org.uk\/upham-players\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/Leaving-lockdown-poster-2.pdf\" class=\"wp-block-file__button\" download aria-describedby=\"wp-block-file--media-c63641f2-41ea-4c96-ace7-702863b98d93\">Download<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Appropriately, after two years&#8217; of inactivity due to Covid, the focus of the production is Lockdown!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The first short play, &#8216;Leavings&#8217; by Michael Frayn (the author of the hilarious &#8216;Noises Off&#8217;) harks back to the pre-Covid time when we used to have parties (though these didn&#8217;t seem to get interrupted at one address in Downing Street), and that dreaded moment when it&#8217;s time to leave, but no-one seems to have the social manners to actually get up and leave! Like a lot of Frayn&#8217;s humour, it takes an unexpected turn at the end &#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then we have two monologues from the Brass Works Theatre in Bristol, both inspired by lockdown. In <strong>The Deafening Quiet<\/strong>\u00a0by Liz Lowe, a home-schooling mum enjoys the silence of the smallest room.
