    Message for Su:

I did telephone you today requesting a copy of “Upham in old Pictures”. I have been trying to get hold of a copy for ages. My Great Grandfather was born in Upham, nis name being Edmund Carpenter, parents, John Carpenter and Eliza May.John was a “Groom” in the 1851 Census and I would dearly like to know at which house he worked, but probably not possible. I do know there is a splendid photo of “Stroudwood House” in the book which was home to the PRIMMER and CARPENTER families at times.

So please tell me where to send my cheque and I look forward to getting my book.

    Regards .. Derek Carpenter

      Dear Mr Carpenter,

Having had just seen your comment here, I wonder whether it might interest you to know that I am also a descendant of the Carpenters of Stroudwood, Upham. My great great great grandmother was Caroline Primmer, who married James Carpenter in 1843.

We have many photographs here of the family. If you were able to reply to this comment, I will give you my email and I will send you some copies of various photographs.

      Best wishes.

      Tom Carpenter
