The Trustees of the Village Hall are looking for new Trustees to join the management committee of the Hall. There is a specific vacancy for a Secretary but we would welcome anyone in the community who would like to play a small part in the running of an attractive facility which makes a significant contribution to the enjoyment of many in and around the Upham area.
The Hall is a vibrant business, providing an outlet for many different social activities for the local community as well as very convenient and much appreciated – facilities for weddings, parties and the like. It supports a thriving Pre-school, badminton, and the village amateur dramatic society (Upham Players); dance, music, yoga, pilates, and cake-decorating classes; a youth club (Upham Bandits); and show dog and puppy training. The latest activity to be provided is a Zumba class.
The Hall has undergone significant refurbishment in the last several months. We are particularly grateful to the Big Lottery Fund for making a substantial contribution to a new kitchen, while the rest of the hall has been redecorated and new flooring has been put down. As a result, the Hall is a very attractive venue for parties or other events.
The committee meets every four to six weeks and the meetings generally last between one and one and a half hours. The role of the Secretary is to keep an eye on the annual calendar of tasks that ensure we are in compliance with Charity Commission regulations and to take the minutes of the meetings.
