UPDATED – 25th March 2015 – The Morestead Road is now open.
As part of the programme of works being undertaken by Operation Resilience we will be undertaking mainly carriageway resurfacing and drainage improvements in Hazeley Road and Morestead Road, Morestead. The works are programmed to start on 23 February 2015 and are expected to last for 4 weeks, during which time section of road will be closed to vehicular traffic 24 hours a day to undertake the works safely.
The road closures are as follows;
Monday 23 February, Hazeley Road from the entrance to Long Barn to Morestead will be closed off for the 4 week duration and temporary two way traffic signals will be erected on Morestead Road across the Hazeley Road junction whilst works are being carried out.
Monday 2 March Morestead Road from A31 to Longwood Road will be closed for the next 3 weeks, with a 2 day closure for repairs to the edge of the carriageway between Longwood Road and Salt Lane.
Different aspects of the maintenance works will also be programmed and co-ordinated to make most effective use of the road closures and also to limit the length of the road closed at any one time. Carriageway resurfacing of Morestead Road between Hazeley Road and Jackman’s Hill and a short section near Bottom Pond Cottages will be carried out as the last phase of the works.
Information signs advising road users of the works will be erected approximately 2 weeks before the start of works. A letter will be sent to local residents and an email will be sent to Winchester City Council and Upham, Twyford and Owslebury Parish Council to advise them accordingly.
