Meadow View – Public Consultation Event

Land at Meadow View, Winchester Road, Upham

Public Consultation Event

Upham Developments Ltd are holding a public consultation event regarding their draft plans for a proposed development on land at Meadow View, Upham.

The purpose of the public consultation event is to provide you, as a local resident, the opportunity to comment on and influence proposals for the site. The consultation is an informal event and is being held at Upham Millennium Village Hall, Lower Upham, SO32 1HF on Wednesday 21st September 2016 between 3:45pm and 6:45pm (please visit any time between these hours).

Draft proposals will be displayed at the event and members of the project team will be on hand to answer any questions you may have. A comments box will be available at the venue and we very much welcome your views and input.

The site was historically occupied by a number of buildings used for general industrial purposes. In 2012, planning permission was granted to replace the existing buildings with seven individual units for light-industrial use.

An extensive marketing campaign was carried out to ascertain interest in the units. Four years later and despite marketing by four different agents, there has been no interest in the site as a speculative development. In order to deliver a commercially viable scheme that will provide a commercial element, alternative options had to be considered for the site.

The proposals to be displayed at the consultation event reflect this position and seek to provide small business units that will provide employment opportunities in the local area funded by high quality housing.  The layout and character of the proposal seeks to reflect the unique character and vernacular of Upham. Your comments are sought on the form and appearance of the draft proposals.

If you have any queries in advance of the consultation event, or if you are unable to attend and would like further information, please do not hesitate to contact Rebecca Humble of WYG Planning and Environment using the details below.
