Celebrations for the end of WW1 in Upham : 10th November 2018

We are planning a celebration at the Village Hall on Saturday November 10th to commemorate the centenary of the end of WW1- the actual date of 11/11 will be marked by a Remembrance Service at Blessed Mary on the Sunday.

We are hoping that the celebrations will have two parts:

  • In the evening, a Village Supper and possibly a Barn Dance;
  • During the day, an exhibition of the history of the Village from the First World War, or even earlier. There will be refreshments and we hope to have representatives of the more long standing village families to talk. Other events, such as a village football match have also been suggested.
In order to compile the Village history, we are looking for volunteers to help with research as this needs to be started very soon.  In addition, we will need people to help with organisation, publicity, supper, refreshments etc.
If you are interested in helping with any aspect of this, could you let Sarah Le May (lemay@btinternet.com or 07970 048197 ) or Janet Dunford ( 01489 860579) know.  We will have a planning meeting on 12th March at the 7pm at the Pavilion so please let us know if you are able to attend.
